For those of you who frequent this weblog, you know I like to monitor activity in my neighborhood. Capured this teardown in progress while out on my morning Starbucks loop yesterday. As I rounded the corner of Magnolia and Wrightwood in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, the sign pictured above caught my attention.
Proceeding a bit further, I was able to capture the backhoe perched perilously atop a large pile of refuse. The photo does not do justice. It never ceases to amaze me that during the teardown phase, the buildings to the left and right are not demolished in the process. These guys have the process down to a science. Think they have done this once or twice before? The 35′ x 98′ lot zoned RS-3 was first put on the market at $749,000. The lot closed in June at $720,525. [where: 1220 W. Wrightwood, Chicago, IL 60614]
