Peerless Confection Co.

An institution in the Chicago’s Wrightwood Neighborhood, Peerless Confection Co. is starting to come down. Future homeowners at the neighboring 1301 W. Diversey project will benefit. I anxiously await plans for the land.

Over at the Brach’s plant on 401 N. Cicero (where I worked many moons ago), they used the former admin building of that company and turned it into “Gotham General Hospital” last summer, only to blow it up for one of the scenes in the upcoming Batman movie (I think it’s called “Black Knight” or something like that). They were gonna level that building anyway, so might as well be for a movie. I guess there were no plans for the Peerless candy company.

Mark, thanks for stopping. Nothing so dramatic in this case. Never received notice, just drove around the corner on Lakewood and discovered what you see in the photo.
